many names...one city...many stories
our ToD book titled 'many names...one city...many stories' is finally printed and ready. the past few days have seen a tremendous effort by around 10 of us from the class to put together the book. ps: apart from the editors, the editorial note gives due credit to these people. apart from the obvious surprises, tit-bits and exclamations that came up while compiling the 37 individual stories, the behaviour on the part of some people of the class was so ... bugging.. well, thats the first word that comes to my mind.
firstly, people didn't give their stories till we begged & begged and forced & forced and ultimately threatened not to publish them. even then we didnt recieve 5 stories at the time the book went for printing. most people didnt feel the need to make an effort to procure photographs and contribute them to the book. they probably didn't think that it would make much of a difference or what great compilation can the book possibily be. some others infact took pity on us that we were stuck up with ToD for half the weekend. but the worst thing that happened was people sending in stories without running a spell and grammar check. infact we even got a story without a single full stop in it.
to the people who needed a reason to contribute material: have a look at the book and then curse yourself for not getting snaps.
for the people who took pity on us: please forward ur pity to some one else. i can confidently say that the experience to bring out this book was unique and taught each of us a lot. (and if u want more tangible reasons then: i learnt corel draw!)
and finally for people who think spellings, grammar and punctuations dont matter, think again, and dont expect the same doesn't-matter-what-u've-done--i-will-correct-it-for-u attitiude from others all the time
we acknowledge the fact that the book is not entirely perfect. for example, u will still find spelling mistakes. all said and done, thanks once again to all the people who worked their ass off for the book and here are some sneak previews from the book. we are planning to inaugrate (i know thats not the correct word) the book officially on monday.
