fuck
yesterday, the freshers' return party at poison had the most fucked-up music i've ever been subjected to. i couldn't bear it for even an hour, and walked out much before midnight; once out, i decided to walk home. now, poison is in bandra and home is at yari road, 30 mins away by rick in non-peak hour traffic. but those who know me, will acknowledge that i love walking, especially alone, especially when my mind is fucked-up.
(this btw is perhaps the first time that fuck is being used in this blog, and very colloquially too)

some random observations from the 2 hour walk home:
- groups of watchmen, supposedly guarding shops, ATMs and apartments solve crosswords below the street lights
- boutique shops on linking road leave dim lights on all through the night, their clothes gleaming on mannequins in the darkness, all secured and protected by glass-shutters
- a watchman of a particular boutique on linking road suspends a mosquito-net from the store's awning and sleeps peacefully every night
- the chain of chappal shops opposite national college leave tonnes of newspaper litter behind every night
- at bandra, kfc closes before mc donalds
- a mini-ferris wheel shifts base from juhu beach to somewhere in santacruz every night, via s.v. road
- the street light at the junction where parle station road meets sv road is the brightest along this entire route
- chemists, much against their wishes are persuaded to recommend medicines for ailments
- amar juice centre is so crowded, that it needs a guard just to direct drivers to their parking
- the steps below gold's gym, at juhu circle, are the closest resemblance to steps in a public space that our suburbs have
- there are chai-wallahs every 500 metres or so, along all the main roads
- the chai-wallahs sell coffee, cigarettes and even horlicks, but no chai
- the coffee is sold in two sizes, chotta and bada
- the price of the coffee is more than what a first timer would expect: the two tablespoons of coffee, milk and sugar that make up the small cup cost 5 bucks
- coffee along with cadbury is the best bet on a late night walkathon
- walking in suede shoes is painful after an-hour-and-a-half
- whilst on the streets, the thought of murderers, rapists, muggers etc isn't half as scary as that of wild street dogs
- bmc's sweepers gather at bus-stops for a round of nocturnal gossip
- the sweepers at 4 bungalows turning on juhu-versova link road, spread out sheets on the road, and lie under the stars whilst chatting
- it takes me 2.5 hours to walk 11.5 km after having slept three hours the previous night
- i can't wait for another late-night walkathon, this time with a camera though. thank you poison
